How Porta Potties Are Cleaned and Serviced
A porta potty is cleaned in six steps: pump, rinse, scrub, disinfect, recharge and restock. Job-site units get this service once a week, included in the 28-day price. The full visit takes about 10 minutes per unit, and waste goes to a licensed treatment facility.

What happens during a porta potty service visit?
A porta potty service visit follows the same six steps every time. The tech pumps the tank into a sealed truck tank, rinses the interior, scrubs the seat, urinal and walls, wipes handles and latches with disinfectant, recharges the tank with deodorizer, and restocks tissue and sanitizer.
- PumpVacuum hose empties the tank into the truck.
- RinseFresh-water spray of the bowl, urinal and floor.
- ScrubBrush on the seat, urinal and walls.
- DisinfectHandles, latch and seat wiped.
- RechargeFresh deodorizer (salt brine in winter).
- RestockTissue, sanitizer, and water for sinks.
How often is a porta potty cleaned?
A job-site porta potty is cleaned once a week. A crew of up to 10 people fits that schedule. Crews of 15 or more, or units used by the public, often need two visits a week. Event units are cleaned before delivery and at pickup; a mid-event service costs $65.
